This low sulfur fuel is more expensive to refine and the trucks that burn it cost more due to the advanced technology required in both the engines and exhaust systems. Many LTL carriers have fuel surcharges in the 18.9 to 19.8 percent range and trudkload carriers are in excess of 32 percent!
